Easter

For some, it means a few days off. Others go to church out of habit. Many no longer know exactly what Easter stands for. But Easter must be important, otherwise this holiday wouldn’t exist.

Yes, it is worth reading this leaflet.

First, something about what happened before there was an Easter.
We human beings – without exception – have not done God’s will. We often lie, steal, are unfaithful, love neither God nor our neighbour and so on. In short, we have all transgressed God’s Ten Commandments in thought or deed and have thus become guilty before God. We are separated from God, both now and for eternity. We face damnation. It is a hopeless situation that we are in!

It is a sad day. It is the remembrance of the day when Jesus died.
It is always sad when someone dies.

But in this case everything is different. Someone who never sinned dies on the cross. Someone who has always done God’s will. Someone who voluntarily dies on the cross for the guilt of others. That is a unique event in the history of mankind. There is only one person who can do this, the incarnate Son of God. Yes, Jesus Christ came to this earth to solve the problem of our guilt, our sins, by paying for them with His life. In amazement, I simply stand before this cross and marvel at this love, this divine love, which has taken care of my problem.

The tomb is empty. Jesus is alive!
He is risen!
Another event unique in history.
Jesus Christ rose from the dead. He conquered death. And because He is alive, it is absolutely obvious that God accepted His sacrifice.
And now God offers you and me forgiveness of our sins. Jesus bore the just punishment for us.
Moreover, the resurrection is, one of the best documented facts of that time. There is no doubt about it.

What does Easter have to do with you and me?
A new life. Being reconciled to God and having peace with God. Peace and calm in one’s heart. Spending eternity in heaven with God. A wonderful relationship with Jesus Christ, our Saviour. God wants to give you and me all this and much more. You can’t earn it by doing “good works”. It is a gift!

Sincerely confess your sins to God, everything that is not right in your life, and ask Him for forgiveness. Entrust your life to him. He will gladly forgive you. He gives you a new life. He wants to take the lead in your life.

A new life – God’s gift to you.
